It is a more formal way of communicating rather than getting in touch with Messenger or Viber. The only thing is, it will need mobile data or Wi-Fi so that you can access it.

How To Fix Email Not Working on Samsung Note 8:
Solution 1, Recovery Mode
- Turn of you device by holding down the power button.
- While it is turned off, hold down the power button, home button, and volume up key simultaneously.
- You will see the android logo and a recovery menu will appear.
- Wipe Cache Partition.
- Restart the device.
Solution 2, Account
- Head to the settings and proceed to Account.
- Delete you Samsung account
- Restart your Device.
- Log in your email and it should work.
If none of the steps above work, perform a factory reset. It is the same step as solution 1 but choose factory reset instead.
